Discovering San Teodoro, pearl of Northeast Sardinia

San Teodoro is a popular holiday destination in Gallura, a beautiful area on the northeast coast of Sardinia. Its popularity is due to some incredibly beautiful beaches in and around the village such us Cala Brandinchi and La Cinta, and to other natural wonders such as the Tavolara Island and the natural pools of the Molara Island.

San Teodoro once was a small fishermen village and in the last decades it became a wonderful beach resort with its elegant villas and flowers that looks out over the turquoise sea. The resort is highly accessible, both in terms of logistics and budget, if compared to the Costa Smeralda (both destinations are in fact thirty minute drive from the port and airport of Olbia).

Among the stunning beaches, the most renowned is La Cinta beach, 5-km long stretch of white and fine sand dunes that gently fade into a clear azure sea offering an incredible view over the magnificent Tavolara Island. The shallow and clear water is beloved by families with children as it becomes deeper very gently and there are no rocks in sight.

San Teodoro is also beloved by nature and sports lovers. The village features a salty lagoon where you can admire varied and rare birdlife and fauna, such as flamingos. The lagoon is a wonderful spot for birdwatching and a relaxing sunset walk breathing in the scents of Sardinia.
If you are a sport lover there are plenty of activities you can choose from: horse-riding, trekking, cycling, tennis and golf. If you prefer watersports the offer also includes surfing, windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling, canoeing, scuba diving.

Another great attraction in San Teodoro is nightlife: you will find restaurants, bars, clubs for every taste and age.

Another unmissable attraction of the area is Cala Brandinchi, a white shore with water that resembles a tropical paradise nicknamed Sardinian Tahiti for good reasons. This beach is even more stunning when visited by the sea, and could be the ideal stopover when going to visit Tavolara or Molara Islands by boat.

These islands and the surrounding waters are part of the Tavolara and Punta Coda Cavallo Marine Protected Area created in 1997 to preserve this unique ecosystem from unregulated tourism. The Protected Area goes from Capo Ceraso to Isola Ruia, including enchanting places such as Capo Coda Cavallo, Molara and Molarotto island.

One of the true beauties of the area are the sublime natural pools of Molara of clear, turquoise water which you can enjoy with a dip in the water or doing some snorkeling.

Heading south it is worth visiting Orosei, lovely city located on a fertile plain, from where you can go and discover numerous beautiful bays such as Cala Gonone, Cala Ziu Martine, Cala Fuili, Cala Cartoe and Cala Luna, where sheer rock faces protect and frame the cove, and on one side of the cove you will be amazed by spacious natural caves featuring steep, lunar grey rock walls. Just a stunning view from the sea and shelter from the sun in the hottest months.

Cala Goloritzé and Cala Mariolu are the real pearls of this seashore rich of cliffs. You can reach the splendour of Cala Goloritzé, a rocky, dazzling turquoise bay, cruising from Orosei or going through intense hours of hiking in the forest. In fact, if you are a hiking lover you could also experience the Selvaggio Blu, one of Italy’s most challenging and scenic hiking trails, in which you explore lesser-known coves and enjoy amazing views.
Cala Mariolu, with pebbles that resemble snowflakes, offers as well astonishing views thanks to endless shades of blue both in the sea and the sky framed by cliffs rich of Mediterranean scrub.

You can discover the beautiful Coves of the Orosei Gulf with a Nausdream rubber boat tour. An remarkable experience discovering one of the most charming coastlines of Sardinia.
